ARCHAEOLOGY & HERITAGE MANAGEMENT
- Earthsea archaeologists are highly experienced in accurately locating, identifying and analysing heritage and archaeological objects, features and places (Aboriginal, historical and maritime);
- Assessing and managing the heritage significance of these features;
- Excavation of sites, test pitting and analysis of cultural materials, including - stone artefacts, human remains, faunal remains and rock art;
- Recommending appropriate action to stakeholders, based on practical field experience and a comprehensive understanding of the legislative requirements in Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Victoria;
- Consultation and community engagement with Indigenous groups including Traditional Owners, Native Title claimant groups, communities and land councils; and,
- Consultation and community engagement with the broader community on a range of heritage management issues.
ANTHROPOLOGY
- Earthsea anthropologists are specialists in community consultation, Native Title research, site recording and heritage clearances.
GPS SURVEYING AND MAPPING
- Earthsea can provide GPS survey and mapping services to the heritage management industry using GPS, DGPS and total station surveying equipment. We are experienced in providing GIS mapping for heritage management, archaeology and predictive modeling applications.
Earthsea utilises Map Info Professional® GIS products, yet data can be provided to clients in any common format. For surveying our consultants use a range of Trimble Nomads®, Garmin GPS60xs® and Topcon® total stations (when required).
HISTORICAL RESEARCH
- Earthsea can provide quality historical research and documentation to government and business to facilitate decision making in the heritage management area; and
- Quality assessment of heritage significance using current heritage assessment criteria or by negotiation with native title parties.
TRAINING
- We also provide practical, ‘hands on’ courses and field based training in GPS, GIS and mapping software; and
- Provision of cultural heritage management training for staff, field teams, clients and Indigenous organizations.

- Earthsea maintains a $1 million professional indemnity and $20 million public liability insurance policy.
